Integrated Automatron

 Integrated Automatron

I’m sure that by this point you’ve noticed how the DLCs practically yell at you. How they intrude into your game, shove their way into your quest log, and generally make a nuisance of themselves without trying to fit in. I certainly have, which is why I’ve made this mod to adjust how Automatron and its content is presented to the player in order to better integrate it into the game world.

FEATURES

  • The Caravan Distress Call now only plays within a short distance from the site where they are being attacked.
  • “Mechanical Menace” begins when your pip-boy picks up the distress call.
  • New random encounters featuring just the rust devils without any robots. They start a week after you leave the vault, though leveling above five will reduce that timeframe.
  • Automatron’s quest has been broken into three phases:
    • “Pre Quest” begins twenty days after leaving the vault, though leveling beyond level ten will make that time shorter. This enables the original random encounters, settlement attacks, and load screens at a dramatically reduced rate in order to ease players into the DLC. This also enables new bounty quests in Diamond City that target newly added Automatron attack sites scattered around the commonwealth. Additionally, warning notices will be scattered around Diamond City and Goodneighbor and new random encounters where locals warn you of the robot attacks will begin appearing.
    • “Mid Quest” starts when you begin the Automatron questline. The radio frequency and caravan attack will be available starting after forty-five days have passed since game start, though leveling past twenty will reduce that wait. You can also reduce that wait by discovering and clearing Automatron attack sites, reading warning notices found in Diamond City and Goodneighbor, or running into random encounters warning you of The Mechanist. Once the quest is in your quest log, the original random encounters, settlement attacks, and load screens are available at a much higher encounter rate compared to the pre-quest phase.
    • “Post Quest” begins when you’ve successfully completed the Automatron questline. This dramatically reduces the rate for the original random encounters and load screens, and disables the settlement attacks entirely.
  • Flagged as a light plugin (esl-flagged esp) for minimal impact on load order.
